Spring doesn't wait for you to be grateful. You spent months managing. You forgot what it was like to walk outside without bracing. You forgot to expect warmth. Then one day you weren't bracing anymore. The sun was up at seven. The light landed differently. You took your coat off in the courtyard and didn't put it back on. Something in you started to participate again. You didn't have to remember how. The body knew. The breath knew. It came back on its own. That's spring. You stopped surviving. You started being.
